International Academy
Boston GuitarFest XIX
The all online “International Academy" of Boston GuitarFest, which is organized jointly with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, (running online May 31, June 1, June 7, and June 8) will precede the (in- person) part of Boston GuitarFest (June 25 - 30, 2024).
The live, all in-person events of Boston GuitarFest XIX (June 25 - 30) will be available for asynchronous viewing by the International Academy participants during and following the completion of the in-person live Festival, and also will be made accessible online to the International Academy participants.
The all-online International Festival will be taught once again by a quartet of disciples of Eliot Fisk teaching from Europe with simultaneous live translators mostly based in China.
The artist teacher faculty of the online program will include Cecilio Perera, and Kostas Tosidis (both former assistants of Eliot Fisk at the “Mozarteum” University, Salzburg), Chilean virtuoso and master of popular Latin American styles, Danilo Cabaluz, and the marvelous and versatile Antigoni Baxe. All are experienced teachers offering a wide variety of skills and specialization. A mixture of individual lessons, performance classes, and specialized lectures and seminars covering a wide variety of guitar styles and advanced techniques will be offered.
Eliot Fisk will teach online classes on June 1 and 8, while Zaira Meneses will teach May 31 and June 7.
International Academy participants receive:
- Two private lessons (or one private lesson and one academy master class); with our BGFest XIX International Academy faculty* including but not limited to Cecilio Perera, Kostas Tosidis, Danilo Cabaluz, Antigoni Baxe, all honored graduates of Eliot Fisk’s famous guitar class at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria.
- Performance classes are offered each day, including multiple performance opportunities and live comments from festival director Eliot Fisk
- Live Chinese-English translation available for private lessons and performance classes if needed
- Zoom access to all BGFest XVIII events, including masterclasses, concerts, conversations, and workshops (all included in tuition)
- Option to audition for and perform in Academy master classes
