Admission

All levels and ages are welcome to apply! Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is recommended. Registration includes all festival events, concerts, private lessons, and master classes during the days valid for the type of registration purchased. Groupings of small guitar ensembles will be based on experience or request.

  • Includes all events, concerts, private lessons, and masterclasses*, as well as entry into the adult competition.** ONLY 5-day + Competition registrants are eligible to win the first-prize Noe Zalapa guitar.

Adult Performance Competition $250

  • The Boston GuitarFest performance competition attracts top-level performers from around the world. Choose this option to participate only in the performance competition, not including access to other festival events. Young Guitarists Workshop: Level I $475; Early Bird Discount (before May 30, 2016) $375

  • Budding young artists ages 6–12 are welcome in Level I of Young Guitarists Workshop. Over the course of the week, students will be exposed to level-appropriate group classes, master classes with distinguished faculty, music appreciation, music, dance, and of course snack, lunch, and fun time. Includes competition.

Young Guitarists Workshop: Level II $475; Early Bird Discount (before May 30, 2016) $375

  • Level II of Young Guitarists Workshop is tailored to skilled young artists ages 12–17. Over the course of the week, students will be exposed to level-appropriate group classes, master classes with distinguished faculty, music appreciation, music, dance, and of course snack, lunch and fun time.*** Includes competition.

Youth Performance Competition $75

  • Boston GuitarFest is pleased to announce the return of the Youth Competition, which consists of two divisions. The senior division is for high school students younger than 18 years of age as of June 15, 2016, and includes cash prizes and other awards. The junior division is for students younger than 15 years of age as of June 15, 2016, and includes trophies and other awards. For prizes, rules and other details, click here.
  • If you are a YGW participant, the competition is INCLUDED in tuition, but you still need to register by e-mail. Contact Hank Mou at [email protected] to register for the competition in addition to YGW.

1-Day Luthier’s Expo Pass $55 each

  • Each day pass gives luthiers access to the Luthiers Expo. This includes space for your instruments, a table and rooms for prospective buyers. Day-pass holders will also receive auditor access to all Boston GuitarFest events on the specific day of their pass, including concerts, master classes and more.

Housing $80

  • Housing for the festival is available at Northeastern University. Room rates are $80 per person per night (June 15-19). Accommodations will be private bedrooms for each person, in suites shared by other guests. All rooms are non-smoking. All housing residents must be 18 years of age or older– no exceptions, even if accompanied by a guardian. Housing will not be considered reserved until payment is processed. * All 5-day participants are provided 2 guitar lessons, one of which can include performing in one of the masterclasses. All applicants interested in performing in a masterclass must audition via video.

** Participants who take part in the competition are not allowed to have lessons with competition judges while they are in the running.

*** High school students who would like to be considered for the 5-Day Full Participant program can submit a music resume listing experience in classical guitar. High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to submit music resumes for proper placement in the Festival.

75% refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn 90-61 days before program begins
50% refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn 60-46 days before program begins
25% refund (less $150 non-refundable deposit) if withdrawn 45-31 days before program begins
No refund if withdrawn 30 days of fewer before program begins
