Hailed by NBC-5 as a guitarist who “plays like a veteran twice his age,” native Oregonian Tye Austin has seen an unprecedented amount of success during his short eight-year career. Since beginning his formal music studies at the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University in 2008 and making his solo debut in 2011 as opening act for Sharon Isbin, multiple Grammy Award-winner and Juilliard faculty, Austin has won multiple international competitions and performed at many prestigious concert halls across the US including Carnegie Hall, Craterian Theatre, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to name a few. He’s currently pursuing his Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory of Music on a full-ride scholarship under the tutelage of legendary maestro Eliot Fisk, the last direct pupil of Andres Segovia. Recently completing an internship for the Boston Classical Guitar Society as their social media and public outreach coordinator, Austin is also a savvy and entrepreneurial businessman in addition to maintaining his active performance schedule. He plays a 2015 Connor Guitar, hand-made exclusively for him in Cape Cod, MA, and uses D’Addario high-tension strings. In his spare time he enjoys rainforests, philosophy, yoga/meditation, and running through the streets of Boston. For more information visit www.tyeaustin.com
