Music has always been a basic fact of life for 15-year-old pianist Raquel Fisk. At the same time that she began to play the piano (at the age of 3 1/2) she became acquainted with numerous operas beginning with Mozart’s Zauberfloete, most of which she could soon sing by ear. Raquel has studied piano with Valentina Lass at the New
England Conservatory and more recently privately with the eminent pedagogue, Niva Fried and with Catalan virtuoso, Moises Fernandez Via.
Raquel’s piano playing consistently impresses young and old with its technical security,
beauty of tone, and precocious musicality. In addition to frequent performances in the Boston area (including Jordan Hall) she recently performed to critical acclaim at the famous Bach Festival in Bethlehem, Pa., playing works by Mendelssohn, Bach, Chopin, and Prokofiev as part of Festival’s annual gala concert. She has performed twice in
New York City’s Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall.
In August of 2014 she performed on tour for the first time in major cities in China including Hangzhou, Taicang and Shanghai. In 2015 she won first prize in the Bay State Piano Competition for her performances of Beethoven and Brahms.
In the summer of 2015 in addition to her performances at the Chopin Institute she attended Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute for which she has received a special merit scholarship. She continues to perform regularly in a wide variety of repertoire. This coming summer she will participate in master classes of Andrea Lucchesini at the Sommer Akademie of the Universitaet Mozarteum in Salzburg.
In addition to classical music Raquel enjoys track, volley ball, painting/sketching, and various foreign languages (Spanish, French, and German).
