As an acclaimed performer, educator and arts executive, Dr. Daniel Acsadi is creating an exciting new direction for the classical guitar. Guided by his wide-ranging interests and Hungarian-American heritage, Dan’s repertoire and research interests link the great musical traditions of Europe and the Americas. Since winning his first guitar competition at the age of fifteen, Dan has performed extensively throughout the United States both as soloist and in chamber ensembles. For his doctoral project, Dan created groundbreaking transcriptions of Béla Bartók’s early piano music through a study of the composer’s own arranging practices. As Director of the Boston Classical Guitar Society, he is developing an unprecedented local presence for the classical guitar through concert series, educational initiatives, and community activities. Beginning his musical studies at age six, Dan holds a DMA and MM from New England Conservatory and BA from Cornell University, where he double majored in music and economics. Dan teaches at Longy School of Bard College, Tufts University, Bridgewater State University, and Powers Music School (Belmont). www.danielacsadi.com
