In accordance with this afternoon’s theme long time Boston Guitar Fest artists, pianist, Virginia Eskin, and guitarist, Zaira Meneses, will open this afternoon’s program with a brief scholarly introduction which will touch on the remarkable freedom of expression and grace of such rediscovered women artists as Barbara Strozzi, Marie-Anne-Catherine Quinault, Princess Wilhelmine of Prussia, and Elizabeth de la Guerre. This in turn will be followed by the Festival debuts of 11 year old pianist Raquel Fisk in keyboard works of Bach. The program continues with works by three lesser known but still magnificent lutenists Alessandro Piccinini and Silvius Leopoldus Weiss as well as a work by Elisabeth de la Guerre. Reknowned Greek virtuoso Elena Papandreou continues with works of Chopin (a great admirer of Bach) Mexican composer Manuel Ponce and two contemporary works by Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis and guitar virtuoso Roland Dyens.
